Teaching approach: I love working with children and adults alike, and emphasize students' enjoyment while we build note-reading skills, explore improvisation, learn music theory, practice relaxation at the keyboard, and study a varied repertoire of music. It is my belief that our natural musicality emerges easily in a non-judgmental atmosphere. I also can introduce basic music technology, and encourage students to write their own pieces using composition software, an excellent supplement for learning notation and expanding creativity!
Biography: Raised in a family of professional pianists, I happily avoided the complexity of a full-bodied DNA transplant and opted for a BA in Music from Haverford College, later receiving my MM from The Hartt School. I currently teach chorus and music in public school, privately and in community music schools. I coach and accompany musical theater, soloists, vocal ensembles and dance classes, and play music for worship services. I am also trained in Playback Theater, an improvisational sound and movement form. Since the 1999 I have received commissions for original compositions, and my works have been premiered in social, academic and sacred settings around New England. I love composing personalized songs in numerous styles for special occasions.
